FAQ

Is this tool really free? Yes. No signup, no trial, no hidden fees. Use it forever for personal or commercial projects.
Do I need to install anything? No — it runs entirely in your browser. Works offline after the first page load.
What font formats are included? The download bundle includes TTF font file, preview HTML, and CSS class map. WOFF2 support is planned for future updates.
Can I use this in commercial projects? Absolutely. The generated fonts are yours to use freely — no attribution required, no licensing restrictions.
How does this compare to IcoMoon? Unlike IcoMoon's paid tiers, this tool is completely free with no account required and 100% client-side processing.
What files can I drop in? Any SVG file. Path data is read directly from the file, so hand-written or exported SVGs both work. Non-SVG files are rejected with an error message, and each file is capped at 10 MB to keep the browser responsive.
How are CSS class names chosen? Each icon gets a class derived from its file name, plus a Private Use Area code point (starting at U+E001). The generated CSS includes both a .icon-<name> selector and a plain class selector, so you can use either.
Can I batch-convert many icons at once? Yes. Select or drop as many SVG files as you like. The preview grid shows every icon, and the download bundles them all into a single TTF file plus one CSS file and a preview HTML page.

For Backend & DevOps Developers

Can I batch-generate icon fonts programmatically? Yes — the tool is 100% client-side. You can automate SVG uploads via browser automation (Puppeteer, Selenium) in your CI/CD pipeline without any server dependency.
Does it work in air-gapped environments? Yes. Once loaded, all generation happens client-side. No internet connection required after the first page load. Service worker caching enables full offline use.
Can I integrate this into my own applications? The underlying technology (opentype.js + JSZip) is open-source and MIT-licensed. You can embed the same logic into your own Node.js, Python, or Go applications.
Is this suitable for enterprise use? Yes. Your SVG assets never leave your browser — no server uploads, no third-party API calls. Ideal for environments with strict data sovereignty requirements.

How It Works

1. Drop in your SVG files or pick them from disk. The tool reads each file's path data directly in your browser, so nothing is uploaded. 2. A live preview grid shows every icon with its generated CSS class name. Remove any icon you do not want in the font, and adjust the font size, letter gap, and baseline to match how your icons will be used. 3. When you download the bundle, the tool builds a TTF font from all the selected icons, writes a CSS file with @font-face and a ::before rule for each icon, and packages everything into a ZIP alongside a preview HTML page you can open to check the result.

The generated CSS pairs each icon's class with a Private Use Area code point (starting at U+E001), so the icons do not collide with text you type. The preview page renders every icon at its assigned code point, which makes it easy to copy the right character into your own markup if you prefer to use raw code points instead of classes.

You can regenerate the bundle as often as you like — delete a stray icon, rename a file to fix its class name, or tweak the spacing and click download again. Because everything runs locally in your browser, each round-trip only takes a moment and you never have to wait on a server or an account. The final ZIP is self-contained: drop its CSS into your project, reference the font file, and your icons render with the same cross-platform consistency as any other web font.

Performance

The SVG path parsing is accelerated by a Rust→WASM core (built with wasm-pack). For 500 icons, parsing takes ~10 ms and glyph metrics takes ~28 ms — total under 40 ms, well under a second even at scale. The full font generation pipeline (parsing + TTF encoding + ZIP packaging) runs entirely in your browser. See scale test for live verification with 500 icons.

There is no server queue, no throttling, and no batch limit imposed by the tool — the practical ceiling is how large a browser can comfortably handle. If a file is not valid SVG, or its path data cannot be parsed, it is skipped and flagged in the preview so one bad icon does not block the rest of the batch.

Technical Implementation

The compute core is written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly via wasm-pack. SVG path parsing (M, L, H, V, C, Q, A, Z commands) runs in WASM; font serialization uses opentype.js (MIT) and archive packaging uses JSZip (MIT). All processing happens in-browser — zero server-side dependencies. Service Worker enabled for offline-first PWA support.
